Legend Homes is pleased to announce the promotion of John Devens to Division President of its Houston division, effective beginning in 2026. Since stepping into the role, Devens has hit the ground running, working closely with teams across the market to prepare for a strong and strategic 2026. 

“John’s experience across construction, purchasing, and operational leadership makes him uniquely qualified for this role,” Legend Homes President Lee Darnold says. “He understands our business from the ground up, has led at the corporate level, and has consistently driven performance, efficiency, and accountability across our organization.” 

An industry veteran, Devens brings more than two decades of homebuilding experience to his new role, including over 20 years of leadership within the Houston market. He joined Legend Homes in 2002 as a Construction Manager and soon advanced through roles including Project Manager, Area Construction Manager, and Vice President of Construction, building deep operational expertise across field execution, cost control, and cross-functional coordination. 

Since 2017, Devens has served as Corporate Vice President of Construction and Purchasing for Legend Homes, where he led companywide standardization of processes, supplier management, and procurement strategy. In that role, he drove negotiations with vendors and manufacturers, strengthened supply chain visibility, improved performance monitoring, and implemented best-practice purchasing procedures across the organization. 

This depth of experience positions Devens well to assume broader leadership responsibilities within the Houston market. His leadership appointment represents an important evolution in the company’s structure. 

“As we move into 2026 and beyond, we are prioritizing division-level operational leadership to better position each market for growth,” Darnold says. “This will require strong alignment across departments and a disciplined strategy to drive growth, particularly through the addition of new communities.” 

Devens has already played a key role in shaping the Houston division’s path forward. He leads the division from Legend Homes’ headquarters in Houston, where the company was founded and continues to expand its footprint across the metro area. As a Houston-based homebuilder, Legend has built a strong presence throughout the region and has experienced tremendous growth in north Houston in particular, including in Conroe and surrounding communities. 

“With continued expansion into high-demand corridors across the metro, John is focused on strengthening operational execution, supporting new community development, and positioning the Houston division for sustained, strategic growth in the years ahead,” Darnold says.
