Ereso brings a broad background across real estate, finance, and operations, with experience spanning investment management, banking, and leadership roles in both the U.S. and international markets.

Ereso has more than 20 years of experience in real estate and over a decade across the financial services industry, including banking, investment management, and capital markets.

“Jomar’s depth of experience across both real estate and financial services makes him a strong addition to our leadership team,” Camillo Companies CEO Dan Miller says. “He brings a disciplined, thoughtful approach to financial management and a track record of helping organizations scale in a smart, sustainable way.”

Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership roles at organizations including GE Capital Real Estate, RCLCO/RCLCO Financial Advisors, Wells Fargo, and MassMutual. Most recently, Ereso has focused on strengthening financial and operational infrastructure within growing real estate organizations, helping scale teams, processes, and portfolio performance. He has led asset management strategies and overseen large, complex portfolios, and is known for his hands-on, thoughtful approach and focus on driving long-term value.

In his role as Chief Financial Officer, Ereso will oversee the company’s financial strategy and operations, helping ensure the organization continues to operate with discipline, clarity, and a long-term perspective. He will partner closely with the leadership team to support decision-making, drive alignment, and strengthen the financial foundation that supports continued growth. He will be based in the company’s Houston office.

Most recently, Canales served as Division President for Evermore Homes in Arizona, where he led dramatically improved operational results, expanded the future community pipeline, and improved overall profitability. During his tenure, he introduced a first-time buyer product line in a division that had previously maintained an average sales price of $650,000, helping broaden the company’s reach into new buyer segments.

Prior to Evermore Homes, Canales spent 19 years with Armadillo/View Homes, advancing from Customer Care Representative to Director of Operations, where he oversaw both the San Antonio and Laredo divisions. During his time there, he played a key role in launching the company’s Austin division and helped expand the organization from a first-time buyer-focused builder into a multi-move-up brand (Jeffrey Harrison Homes). The San Antonio and Laredo divisions grew to close a combined 600 homes annually.

New Third Ward Duplex Project celebrates its grand opening

A once-vacant parcel in Houston’s Greater Third Ward has been transformed into an enclave of new duplex homes designed to provide low-income families, including those in crisis situations, with stability and a pathway to long-term housing solutions.

Built at reduced costs through donated labor and discounted materials, the homes will be offered at rental rates up to 60% below market levels, making them both functional and affordable.

Developed through the collaborative efforts of HomeAid Houston, Agape Development, and Houston-based community builder Camillo Companies, the new community features eight duplex homes at the corner of Ward Street and Dumble Street. Each home was designed to combine comfort, functionality and affordability.

“This is more than new housing — it’s an investment in people,” said Dan Miller, CEO of Camillo Companies “Every home here represents stability, dignity, and the opportunity for families to build a brighter future. We are honored to play a part in making that happen.”

Agape Development, which acquired the property and continues to lead neighborhood transformation efforts in Greater Third Ward, will work with residents and local nonprofits to identify and support tenants. Camillo Companies announced today that operating brands SimplyHome and Legend Homes were recognized by USA Today as 2025 Top Workplaces . The awards represent SimplyHome’s first win and Legend Homes’ second straight win.

Camillo Companies Joins Housing Initiative with HomeAid Houston and Agape Development

A vacant pocket in Houston’s Greater Third Ward soon will be transformed into a residential enclave of new homes offering economically disadvantaged individuals, some with young children, a sense of stability and a pathway to transitioning to a long-term housing solution.

Beginning in December 2024, HomeAid Houston , Agape Development , and Camillo Companies will construct eight new duplex homes in a Southside community at the corner of Ward Street and Dumble Street. The project will add rental housing to Houston’s underdeveloped affordable housing market, saving renters up to 60% off market rental rates. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2025.

Officials with HomeAid Houston, Agape Development, and Camillo Companies recently celebrated the community’s groundbreaking with neighborhood leaders. This marked the beginning of a project that will bring much-needed housing and hope to families in the Greater Third Ward.

“We’re honored to be part of this collaborative effort to create safe, functional homes for individuals and families in need,” says Margaret Potter, chief executive officer of Camillo Companies. “Working alongside Agape Development and HomeAid Houston allows us to combine our expertise with their vision, ensuring these homes provide both stability and comfort for the residents who will live here.”

Agape Development, a grassroots organization dedicated to transforming Greater Third Ward, identified and acquired the property. The organization also will work with social workers and local nonprofits to identify and select future residents.

HomeAid Houston, which aims to help those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, contacted Houston-based Camillo Companies, to provide construction services for the new duplex homes. HomeAid’s mission will save Agape approximately 50% of construction costs through the in-kind construction management, labor, and materials of GHBA members. Camillo Companies will follow floorplans designed by Agape Development to ensure the homes offer both functionality and comfort for future residents.

Working with its subcontractors, Camillo expects to build the homes with discounted materials, allowing tenants to secure housing at lower-than-market rental rates.

Camillo Companies' Next Move Program Empowers Challenged Buyers on Path to Homeownership

Launched in 2023, the Next move Program is designed to help first-time homebuyers reach their goals for a more seamless transition

In a housing market where affordability and accessibility remain ongoing concerns, a new program from Houston-based Camillo Companies is lifting credit- and budget-challenged individuals into homeownership.

Camillo Companies’ Next Move Program is believed to be the first to allow residents of single-family rental homes to terminate their lease before it expires without penalty, apply a portion of the rent they’ve paid toward their home purchase, receive money toward closing costs, and access down-payment assistance.

Residents of SimplyHome single-family rental homes who opt to purchase a new Legend home have the option to terminate early without associated fees. Additionally, 10% of the rent they’ve paid—up to $5,000—can be used toward the purchase, along with up to $15,000 in closing costs when using a preferred lender. Down payment assistance options and no-cost credit counseling are also available for qualified buyers.

Both Legend Homes and SimplyHome are affiliates of Camillo Companies.

Since its inception earlier this year, more than 700 SimplyHome renters have engaged in the Next Move program. About half are single women with children.

“The path to homeownership can be challenging, especially for those facing credit or financial constraints,” said Margaret Potter, chief executive officer of Camillo Companies. “The Next Move program is designed to break down these barriers, offering a seamless transition from renting to owning. We’re proud to see so many families, especially single mothers, benefiting from this initiative and taking the first step toward securing a home of their own.”

The introduction of the Next Move program comes as the share of renters staying in their home increased in 2022 compared to a decade ago, according to a report from Redfin. One in six renters stayed in their home for 10 years or more in 2022, up from 13.9% a decade earlier, according to the study.

Legend Homes has announced the expansion of its presence west of San Antonio with the development of Timber Creek , the company’s fourth new home community in the area offering affordable new homes from the $269s.

Timber Creek will feature 85 homesites in a scenic enclave off Talley Road just east of Highway 211. A model home and sales office will open in early summer 2024 at 14918 Homing Meadow.

New homes in Timber Creek will feature Legend Homes’ award-winning, single- and two-story floorplans from 1,365 to 2,628 square feet. What are closing costs?

Closing costs are the expenses that buyers must pay in addition to the price of the home. They typically include processing fees, property taxes, title insurance, and other similar charges. It’s common for closing costs to account for 3 to 6% of the total loan amount.

How soon can I use the flexible lease component of the Next Move Program?

SimplyHome renters can easily end their rental agreements without penalties when they use the Next Move Program. Participants must rent for a minimum of three months before becoming eligible. They must also provide 30-day notice before terminating their lease when purchasing a new home through the Next Move Program.

Can I combine the Next Move Program incentives with other active sales offers?

The Next Move Program incentives aren’t stackable with any other short-term incentives except for the Hometown Heroes discount (closing costs only), which is available for local teachers, medical professionals, active-duty military members, police personnel, firefighters, and more.

What happens if I've prepaid my rent?

SimplyHome would prorate the rent charge to the vacate date and apply the security deposit to any turnover charges (if applicable). Additionally, because you'd participate in the program, SimplyHome would not charge an Early Termination Fee.

Any remaining funds would be sent back to the resident within 30 days of vacating the property.

Camillo Companies Collects 726 Backpacks During Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive

Camillo Companies announced today the donation of more than 700 backpacks to three nonprofits from its annual school supply drive. Across division, company, and market, employees at Camillo Companies contributed 450 backpacks in San Antonio, 188 in Houston, and 88 in DFW — all to help children in need as they return to school.

“We’re passionate about the communities we serve and the families we support,” Camillo Companies President and CEO Margaret Potter said. “This supply drive has become an annual tradition because it gives us the chance to give back.”

Each year, Camillo Companies employees donate backpacks stuffed with school supplies, including pencils, notebooks, markers, pens, and more. In 2023, the Camillo Companies Backpack School Supply Drive benefitted three nonprofits located in their respective metropolitan areas. These included:

BEAR (BE A Resource) : A non-profit organization improving lives by providing hope and help for at-risk and CPS-involved children and their caretakers in the greater Houston area.
CASA (Child Advocates San Antonio) : CASA provides support and stability to children and youth who have experienced abuse and neglect by pairing them with volunteer advocates throughout the San Antonio metro.
Hope Supply Co. : This organization works to meet the critical needs of homeless and at-risk children in the Dallas-Fort Worth area by donating diapers, clothing, toys, school supplies, and more.

“From San Antonio to Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, these backpacks will help supply kids in need as they head back to the classroom,” Potter said. “We’re proud to play a small yet vital role in their education.”

Backpacks were delivered to their respective charities the week of August 14, 2023.

The rankings, which were published in the May/June 2023 issue of Pro Builder , list the top 240 builders in the country by revenue and home closings.

Camillo Companies Hosts Annual Toys for Tots Drive to Benefit Children in Need

From the end of Thanksgiving to the middle of December, employees gathered toys to donate to children ages 6 months to 17 years old

Camillo Companies concluded its annual Toys for Tots holiday drive on December 16, 2022, with hundreds of toys donated to children in need. Employees gave new, unwrapped toys designed for kids ages 6 months to 17 years old, including everything from action figures and dolls to basketballs and more.

“Each year, we work with the Marine Toys for Tots organization to serve the kids and families in our communities,” Camillo Companies Chief People Officer Vivian Mora said. “No matter what our team decides to give, we do so in the spirit of making the holidays a little brighter for children in need.”

Camillo Companies teammates collected toys across divisions and markets, with donation boxes located in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Bryan-College Station. Once collected, toys were dropped off at local Marine Toys for Tots Distribution Centers and delivered to families in respective communities to help them celebrate the holiday season.

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is one of the most recognized and impactful holiday philanthropies in the country. Since its founding in 1947 , the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity organization has donated more than 627 million toys to more than 281 million children across the United States.

Houston Chronicle Awards Legend Homes and Camillo Properties with Place on 2022 Top Workplaces Ranking

In November 2022, the Houston Chronicle named Legend Homes and Camillo Properties to its 2022 Top Workplaces list, marking the fourth straight year for the homebuilder and the third straight year for the build-to-rent company to be recognized in the coveted ranking.

“This recognition is meaningful because it is based entirely on feedback from our team,” Camillo Companies CEO Margaret Potter said. “We believe we’re in this position because we have listened to our team year after year.”

Each year, the Houston Chronicle recognizes organizations that received the highest employee feedback scores on culture, benefits, leadership style, environment, and other key factors. The newspaper partners with Energage – an employee survey company – to deliver a 24-question survey to employees at area companies.

Organizations are sorted into small, medium, and large categories. Organizations were named to the list if they exceeded benchmark scores within each of these size groups. More than 68,000 employees responded to the survey in 2022, with 200 employers making the Top Workplaces list out of 4,974 companies invited to participate.

Legend Homes first made the Top Workplaces list in 2019 while Camillo Properties made its debut in 2020. Both companies operate under the Camillo Companies family of brands.

“Becoming a Top Workplace is a continuous journey of listening to all feedback and striving to improve each year,” Potter said. “We’ll continue to listen to our team’s feedback and use it to get even better.”

Camillo Companies Brands Install Pink Cables, Don Pink Outfits for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Camillo Companies brands teamed with Builders Post-Tension (BPT) to help raise money for Breast Cancer Research

Each October, people around the country recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign that helps raise money for and awareness of the fight against the disease and how it impacts women around the country. showed support for the cause by installing pink cables to reinforce home foundations.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Camillo Companies brands like Legend Homes and Princeton Classic Homes partner with Builders Post Tension (BPT) , a full-service concrete reinforcement materials and rebar supply company, to install limited-edition pink cables in new homes throughout the Houston area.

BPT’s pink cables represent the strong support systems and medical care available to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Likewise, Legend Homes and Camillo Properties employees were encouraged to wear pink to the office during a “Pink Friday” day to bring attention to the awareness efforts.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer that impacts women. In the United States this year, breastcancer.org estimated that 287,850 new cases of invasive breast cancer would be diagnosed, and an estimated 43,250 women would die from the disease. Nearly 13% of U.S. women will develop breast cancer over the course of their life.

Yet research continues to make breakthroughs in treatment. According to the American Cancer Society, “breast cancer death rates have been decreasing steadily since 1989 , for an overall decline of 43% through 2020.”

Local awareness and fundraising efforts help fund these developments. In 2022, BPT donated more than $30,000 to various breast cancer research and awareness organizations.
